In 2006, a group of pastelists at the Dunedin Fine Art Center (DFAC), Dunedin, Florida came together to form the Pastel Society of Tampa Bay.
Through instructor Brooke Allison, the group had shared the love of pastel for many years and a pastel society was a natural outgrowth.
When the word spread about the formation of our group, artists joined from throughout the Tampa Bay area, including Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough counties. To date, there are 50 plus members in the PSTB. We are a diverse, talented group, some members being professional artists while others have just discovered the pastel medium.

We are tapping into our talented pool of pastel painters to educate and spread the love of soft pastels. We have partnered with Friends of the Island State Parks to create a unique visitors experience. They have provided us a space at the nature center and a pristine natural environment to paint. Choose your own subject landscape, ocean view or a winged creature. But come prepared to show off your sticks!
